Jubilee Centre BEL Course Notes
Instructional and Organisational Methods
Having the confidence
to deliver clear and informative lectures, or organise and run training sessions
in all aspects of the syllabus comes from practice and research.
Find out as much as possible about the group, prepare your notes and equipment,
have a timetable and be prepared to take control.
There are a wide range of styles, personality plays a part but confidence
comes from preparation and planning, have a structure to the session, an introduction,
the main topic, time for questions, (try to anticipate the type of questions
that may be asked).
Have a start and finish time, try and stick to them.
Use teaching aids
and resources effectively. Whatever you use, OHP, slides, chalk and talk,
keep the information clear and simple, don't try to get in too much detail
and lose the main points in a sea of information.
Don't get so involved in the delivery that you forget about your audience,
try and involve them.
If you go with technology, check it works, be sure of how it works, allow
enough time for setting up before the audience arrives.
