Mountain Sports

These activities are suitable for beginners, intermediate and advanced climbers and walkers.

Rock Climbing

The new indoor wall has a variety of climbs including slabs, vertical walls and over- hanging walls, all with a range of hold sizes, giving a wide range of climbing to suit your style and level.

For those new to the sport we have a range of courses, including beginners courses run over a series of evenings or over a weekend.

Courses can also be arranged and tailored to suit the aims and abilities of the group.

We can also provide the skills required to move onto real rock, let the training pay off and enjoy the fresh air.

Hill Walking

The Centre has staff with the skills and qualifications to take groups hill walking all year round in the British Isles.

This winter we have courses running in Scotland for winter skills training, winter peak bagging and ski mountaineering.

Paddle Sports

The Jubilee Waterside Centre is a British Canoe Union approved centre, providing canoeing and kayaking on site using the Regents Canal; off site locally and further afield.

Try out, learn and develop your paddling skills. Through a careful mix of techniques, coaching, games, exercises and short journeys you can become a canoeist / kayaker in a short time.

The centre runs courses for training and assessment of the BCU Star Test Scheme up to 3 Star standard.

In addition to the Star Awards we also run courses ranging from beginners to intermediate whitewater.

Any course can be set up specifically for your group, for more details and the costs involved please contact the centre.

Using local venues and rivers we can offer exciting and rewarding paddling for all abilities.

There is an opportunity to gain Trainee Coach and Coach awards in addition to gaining group teaching experience. Please contact the Head of Centre for further details.

Clubs Nights and Adult Access

We are open for casual adult use on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 18.00 to 20.45.

These sessions are for people with some experience in either canoeing, kayaking or rock climbing: so they can train or work on improving personal skills.

For those wishing to learn a new sport we offer beginner courses, these are usually ten hours of instruction, giving you the skills to safely use the centre.

Climbing Courses

Introduction to Indoor Climbing £60.00


Beginner courses run over ten hours,designed for beginners who are interested in learning to safely climb with others at indoor climbing walls.

Tuesday or Thursday evenings:
Run over four weeks, starting the first Tuesday or Thursday of the month, this course delivers 10 hours of instruction.

Outdoor Rock Climbing Courses

The Summer will soon be upon us yet again and hopefully a little better than the last one! 

From the beginning of May we will be commencing our outdoor climbing season.  There are 4 course options to suit all circumstances and all abilities are catered for.

The following dates are for the weekend courses and our day trips can be organised for either the Sat or Sun on any of these dates.

Times

Weekend courses

All weekend courses will be leaving from the Jubilee Centre around 6:30pm on the Friday evening and returning at approximately 7:00pm on the Sunday (traffic willing)

Day courses

All day courses will be leaving the Jubilee Centre at 8:00am and returning at 7:00pm

Below are the 4 course options designed to suit all budgets and circumstances

Option 1  (Full Package)  -  Strictly 4 person minimum

"If you want every thing to be taken care of this is the option for you"

The cost will be £120 per person.  This will include transport from the centre,  Camping fees, 2 days of tuition and all equipment.
Food and drink not included.

Option 2  (Instructor only hire)  -  3 person minimum

"If you have your own transport and just want to hire an instructor this is the option for you"

The bigger the group, the smaller the cost.

3 people - £80
4 people - £70
5 people - £60
6 people - £50

This is instructor only hire and the costs are per person.  All equipment will be provided as well as recommendations for accommodation, climbing areas, eating out etc.
The group will need to meet all transport costs.

Option 3  (Day Trippin'  Full) -  Strictly 4 person minimum

"If you only have 1 day to play with then this is the option for you" 

The cost will be £70 per person.  This will include transport from the centre, A full day of tuition and all equipment.
Food and drink not included.

Option 4  (Day Trippin'  Instructor only)

"If you have your own transport and only have 1 day free this is the option for you"

The bigger the group, the smaller the cost.

3 people - £50
4 people - £45
5 people - £40
6 people - £35

This is instructor only hire and the costs are per person.  All equipment will be provided as well as any specialised recommendations.
The group will need to meet all transport costs.

Aimed at those wanting to gain a wide experience in a condensed course, run over four long weekends, suitable for those wanting to become instructors, needing to acquire the skills for SPA training.

Five Day Climbing Course:

Five days of climbing, can also be used as an add on to the Intensive Climbing Course.

Ten hours of instruction to cover the basics of being safe and having some control in a kayak, with the option of BCU Star Award assessment.
